    Field expediency

If the army had any idea how much I used field expediency to circumvent some of there sillier rules they would have fussed at me a lot. One of my favorites was my make shift electric cigarette lighter for ammo dumps. When you drove in they confiscated anything that would make a spark so I carried a couple of 15 inch chunks of ten ga wire with one end bare and one end frayed. I tied the bare end to battery posts and when you touched the frayed ends together they lit up red like a hot plate. You can always explain the need for a couple of chunks of wire.

That reminds me of the steel wool and 9 volt battery trick method.

That burning steel wool is a lot harder to put out when you're finished with it.
